the one where i couldn’t think of a good title | sunshine blogger award 2019

hey, hi, hello. I’d like to thank my dear friend Destiny @ myhoneyreads nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Destiny’s fantastic, go check out her blog and bookstagram! I am pretty surprised I was nominated because I don’t even like my blog that much (im joking blogging’s actually pretty fun!).

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award? | (Taken from Octavia @ Mythical Reads because, like Destiny, I couldn’t come up with a better way to explain it! Octavia’s description is reallllly good!) 6. Nominate up to eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions to answer

what is your favorite blog post to write?

I love writing my thoughts while reading the shadowhunter chronicles because they’re fun to look back on and, for the ones I am unable to annotate, see what I was thinking while reading the book that first time! I think my favorite favorite would have to be monthly wrap ups! I don’t exactly know why, I just love them.

do you stick to a blogging schedule or post when you feel like it?

Kind of? I try to (I haven’t been lately lol). I don’t have set days but 2ish times a week is my goal! I don’t have specifc days, just whenever the post is ready!

approximately how many books do you own?

Last time I counted…exactly 100 if I’m not mistaken.

what was your first fandom?

Uhm, I’m not exactly sure. It was possibly iCarly…that show was honestly my shit and I still love it. All I did was watch iCarly. I had posters and I even had a replica of Sam’s iconic remote (i wish I still had it). Fandoms I was a bit deeper in when I was younger include The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Divergent, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Willow Falls. Oh, and Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy. Probably.

if a king demanded that you assemble an army to protect the kingdom, which fictional characters would you want to have your back?

Uhhhhh………..The Avengers?? I mean, like, Earth’s strongest heroes. Duh. Like, our main six, Gamora, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Black Panther, all of Wakanda and Dr. Strange. OR just Captain Marvel. Carol would be able to do it. okay so i’m in a very very marvel mood rn and also i wanna say “avengers, assemble.” If we were to go with characters who aren’t literal superheroes, Emily Prentiss (Criminal Minds), Helene Aquilla (An Ember in the Ashes), Emma Carstairs (The Dark Artifices), Evelyn Hugo (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo), the Dregs (Six of Crows), Izzy Lightwood (The Mortal Instruments), Cinder Linh (The Lunar Chronicles), the Seven + Reyna and Nico (Heroes of Olympus) annnnnnnnnd Ginny Weasley (Harry Potter). I know that’s a lot of people but I take this job seriously.

if you could read one book for the rest of your life, which book would it be?

If you follow me on Instagram, I think my answer is fairly obvious. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman is my favorite book of all time. I’ve read it six times already, it’s almost my most read book of all time! I relate to all of the main characters in some way so much it hurts me. The representation is absolutely amazing (i cannot speak for the lgbt+ rep but i haven’t heard anything bad about it and alice oseman isn’t heterosexual/romantic!), the biracial and korean rep (i’m black and korean if you were unaware) doesn’t feel like it was someone that’s not a POC and that was great! Also, if you’ve watched Alice’s videos, you can tell how much she put into this book and I love her and this book and you NEED TO READ IT!

what’s your ideal crossover? (book, tv show, etc)

Hmm. Well. In my Lady Midnight review I talked about how I lived for the Shadowhunters x serial killer storyline. I’d be totally up for a Shadowhunter x Criminal Minds crossover tbh! Like, imagine the BAU team and some warlocks catching serial killers. Also, I’m still freaking waiting for some kind of Harry Potter x Percy Jackson crossover. I’ve read fics but I want some cannon. I know they’re different ages, but uh, time turners? Ooooorrrrrrrrrrr Fresh Off the Boat x Blackish (my blasian heart would be obsessed). OH MY GOD. Criminal Minds x Brooklyn Nine-Nine! Can we actually have that? No, because they literally just finished up filming the series final of CM. ONE DAY AT A TIME x B99! Also, why hasn’t the MCU x DC crossover happened yet? I’m sure it has in comics, but that movie would be huge. I’ve never really cared for DC but I’d watch that.

is there anyone else in your family who reads?

Yes! My mom, dad, and a lot of my dad’s family reads a lot! My younger brother is also starting to get into reading (he’s currently reading hp for the first time)! My mom, brother, grandma, mom’s brother, and dad’s sister all like hp, and my grandma also likes percy jackson! I don’t even know what my dad reads, but he’s always reading something lol

what’s your favorite day of the week and why?

I love Saturdays! Like Friday’s cool but I still gotta go to school, and I usually spend Sundays stressing about school so……

which book got you into reading?

I have two answers. Younger me (age maybe 2-7) I loved reading and being read to. I think that’s because I loved Dr. Seuss’ books! Then I was in a slump for about a year and hated reading. Once I got back into it (age 9ish) I’d say that’s because of The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket.

what was something positive that happened in your life recently?

THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL Y’ALL

okay, so, my questions:

How were you introduced to the online bookish community?

What’s your favorite movie franchise?

Do you read in silence or with background noise (music, tv, etc)?

Have you ever had any platonic fictional crushes? If so, who? (any characters on tv/in a book that you want to be your best friend soooooooo badly)

Have you ever met any authors? If so, who?

What is your second favorite book of all time?

What’s your favorite album right now?

Do you like audiobooks? What are your favorites?

Who’s your favorite superhero and why? (mcu, dc, books, etc)

What very, very, very hyped books/series do you believe is worth the hype?
